Hello, my name is Christy. I have been providing licensed home childcare for 7 years. I am located on the northeast end of Owatonna on a very private dead end street with a large 1 acre backyard. I love caring for children, helping them learn, & watching them grow. I started this website to help parents find quality providers in their area. I heard a lot of feedback from parents on how hard it is to find a provider with openings so I am trying to make it easier for parents to find a quality, licensed provider who will fit their needs. About Me
- I have 8 years of experience as a licensed childcare professional.
- I have15 years of childcare experience as a licensed child care provider, as a nanny, working in a child care center, & a Girl Scout camp counselor.
- I am currently on the board of directors for the Steele County Child Care Association.
- I am currently working to complete my CDA (Childhood Develpment Associate)
- I am currently on the board of directors at Associated Preschool.
- I am an experienced mother of three school age children.
- I attend at least 12 hours childcare training per year.
- I am certified in CPR/First Aid & keep certifications current.current
- I attend SIDS & SBS (shaken baby syndrome) training annually.
- I attend a 3 hour car seat safety training class as required.
- I am a certified home health care aid.
- I have experience caring for children with special needs.
About My Program
I offer a loving family environment for children so they feel at home while parents are working. I offer a full preschool curriculum for 3 - 5 year-olds. No need to find rides to & from preschool. I utilize an early learning curriculum with an emphasis on readying children for kindergarten. I have a large outdoor play area with two play sets. One for older children & one for younger children. I have a large outdoor playhouse that the children love to play house in . I have monthly visits from the library that bring us many new books to read at story time. We have special activities in the summer including sprinkler play & frequent park visits. I am on a state certified food program & serve nutritious meals & snacks. I offer the B-smart learning curriculum with an emphasis on readying kids for preschool & kindergarten. We do arts & crafts, story time, indoor & outdoor play, park visits, walks, & special occasion parties. We have lots of fun everyday. Caring for children is my profession of choice. I enjoy children; playing with them, talking with them, teaching them, & meeting their physical & emotional needs.
I communicate with parents each day on children's activities & accomplishments. I also send home quarterly newsletters with written updates for each child's progress. I offer parents names & numbers of reliable licensed back-up providers in case of illness or vacation.
